THE IMPACT OF RELIGIOUS VIEWS ON CULTURE

The relationship between culture and religion is revealed in the motivation and manifestation of cultural expression

If culture expresses how humans experience and understand the world; religion is a fundamental way in which humans experience and understand the world.

There are more than 10,000 religions in the world, some of which you probably never heard of or knew they existed.

The majority of the world population is associated with Christianity (the largest religion), Islam, and Hinduism.

However, around 1.2 billion people are without religious affiliation, those that associate themselves as atheists, agnostic, or secular

Religion and culture have both been subjects of much scholarly debate throughout history, and remain in the spotlight of many discussions.

Their relationship is complicated at best, and not easy to explain, but they are both important in the lives of humans and how they construct and make sense of the world around us.

the concept of CULTURE

Culture is an umbrella term, which encompasses the social behavior and norms found in human societies, as well as the capabilities, and habits of the individuals in these groups.

A cultural norm codifies acceptable conduct in societ, it serves as a guideline for behavior, dress, language, and demeanor in a situation, which serves as a template for expectations in a social group.

The term RELIGION

Religion is the belief in and worship of a supernatural controlling power especially a personal god or gods. Hence It is a particular system of Faith and worship.

Religion is a matter of faith, or belief based on conviction rather than scientific evidence.

Faith is frequently portrayed through the use of rituals, which are formal, ceremonial behaviors that represent religious meanings, and totems, which are objects that are collectively sacred.

Religion can be a key factor in the cultural identity of many people, influencing their behavior and traditions.

Rituals, sacrifices, prayer, art, are one of the many ways people show their allegiance to a particular religion.

Religion influences cultures, but it is also influenced by culture. Nevertheless, religion can play a big part in the cultural identity of people, influencing how they dress, what and when they eat, and how they behave.
