Adamawa Govt Approves N883m For Renovation Of 10 Legacy Sec Schools

The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday at its 11th, 2022 meeting approved over N883m for renovation of 10 selected legacy secondary schools in the state under phase one category A.

This development is part of the drives of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to overhauling the education sector by improving infrastructure, man power and equipment in schools.

The State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Dr Umar Garba Pella disclosed this to newsmen shortly after the council meeting presided over by Governor Fintiri in the Council Chambers, Government House Yola.

Dr Pella gave the breakdown of the approval to include Government Secondary School (GSS) Shuwa at the cost of N104m, GSS Michika; N107m, GSS Mubi; N79m, GSS Hong: N94m and GSS Girei; N102m.

Others, the Commissioner said are General Murtala Muhammad College (GMMC) Yola; N102m, Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Yola; N103m, GSS Numan;N98m, GSS Jada; N89m and GSS Sugu; N103m.

Pella said the projects were awarded to Z-20 Global Services Limited, Hamziat Standard Nigeria Limited, Faro Construction Nigeria Limited, Kacalla Multilinks Nigeria Limited and Alhamsar Nigeria Limited, among others.

He further said the approval was the fraction of what has been budgeted for the entire project as the government has already approved and issued a contract for rehabilitation of schools in the state at the total cost of N2.23b.

According to the Commissioner, the entire contract have been broken down into lots and some of the lots require council approvals while the remaining ones require only that of the Executive Governor.

He announced that contractors will soon be mobilized to site as part of the current administration’s efforts to give a facelift of infrastructure having the government earlier deployed more quality teachers in schools.

He added that the council members had after deliberations, also approved engagement of three Consultants to manage these projects by ensuring quality and standard of execution inline with contract specifications.

Pella revealed the consultants to include Mega Project International Limited which will monitor the projects in the northern zone of the state at service fee of N48m and Group One Dimension Nigeria Limited, covering the central zone at N50m.

He said the other one approved by the Council is Alamin Consultant Nigeria Limited which will monitor the projects at southern part of the state at the service fee of N51m.
