On Hon Namdas, Binani and the 2023 Adamawa Guber race

Honourable  Abdulrazak Namdas in a recent write-up credited to him has raised a valid point on the present state of his party,the APC in Adamawa state.

 In the first instance,the APC as is typical of all conservative parties made the mistake of taking a masochistic stance on the issue of who their candidate should be. But even worse is the current mistake of assuming their candidate and the APC in disarray can unseat a purposeful government that is performing credibly well in all spheres of public affairs. If the APC has any plans for the future,it should start planning against 2027 now. The party should start thinking along with the new by not assuming that a woman cannot rule in Adamawa and evolve a policy that the PDP in Adamawa has long understood that not only gender is necessary to win an election,but a general consensus of male and female members of the community,credibility of the candidate( 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru  Fintiri has the added advantage of field record of performance),maturity shown by the party hierarchy at all levels and the ability of the actors to key into the realities of the time and the swinging mood of the people in general. In all these the APC has performed dismally low.

Added to that is the fact that Atiku Abubakar,the presidential candidate is from Adamawa state. Given the above,it is clear that Namdas' call for Hon. Aishatu Binani to work hard may only serve the APC better in 2027 when the party would have set its house in order.

Yes,the honorable gentleman is right in his assessment of events. But the main issue to be addressed is not an issue of 2023,but of 2027. The pace,tempo and rhythm of Adamawa state cannot be stagnated nor made to come to a standstill so as to wait for a crawling party struggling to put it's house in order. While the APC is battling with its infantile disorder,the PDP is right on course in it's bid to move the state forward and at the same time ensure continuity by winning the 2023 elections convincingly.
