The Emergency Preparedness and Response Team (EPRT) Distributes Relief Materials to Flood Victims in Numan. Adamawa


The Emergency Preparedness and Response Team (EPRT) in Adamawa supported by MCC Nigeria has distributed relief items to some people affected by flood disaster in Numan.

Beneficiaries of the food and non-food items included victims from Bare, Gadi, Zangun, Gamadio, Kwakumbe, Imburu, Gwalang, and Wodiluran communities.


In their separate remarks, the Co'ordinator JDPC, Rev. Fr. Maurice Kwairanga and Program Manager EPRT, Mr. Lawrence Yakaba noted that the move was part of the organizations effort cushion the effect of this year's flood disaster on the people and show that they were not alone in their travails. 


While calling on the government to take proactive steps in curbing the situation, they highlighted that this is the second phase of the distribution as over 400 vulnerable families benefited from the excercise last month.



Speaking on behalf of the Bachama Traditional Council, Mr. Philemon Godi extended gratitude to the Catholic Bishop Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza for his humanitarian gesture, praying God to bless him.


Godi also applauded the people for the response mechanisms they adopted in the face of limited help and encouraged them to continue to stay strong and courageous as they have always demonstrated in the face of worsening ecological crisis.


Expressing her appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Victoria Haziel thanked EPRT for identifying with them in their time of need.


Victoria said: "we thank this organization for the kind gesture of providing and delivering the food items to us in our time of need...We will not not forget in a hurry those who came to dry our tears when it mattered most."


Items distributed include: Maize, Beans, Rice, Grandnut Oil, Maggi, Salt amongst others.



Highlights of event was presentation of the items to the flood victims.
