BIRNIN KEBBI, Nigeria — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended former Member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Shehu Koko, along with nine senior party officials from Koko Local Government Area, citing alleged anti-party activities, disloyalty, and harassment of party executives.

The suspension was made public through a letter obtained by Channels Television and jointly signed by APC Local Government Chairman Muhammad Maibarga, Executive Chairman Sirajo Usman Koko, and 14 other local party stakeholders.

The letter stated that their suspension became necessary due to “persistent acts of insubordination, anti-party conduct, and creating division within party ranks.”

 Possible Political Motive Behind the Suspension

Close associates of Muhammad Shehu Koko have refused to comment officially but suggested that the action may be linked to his reported ambition to contest for a senatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

This ambition, they allege, has unsettled some influential figures within the APC in Kebbi State, who view his return to frontline politics as a threat to the existing power structure.

 Kebbi State Approves ₦266 Million for Students’ Tuition in India

In a separate development, the Kebbi State Government has approved the release of ₦266.9 million for the tuition fees of 100 indigenes studying in various universities across India.

The announcement was made during a press briefing by Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Tunga, represented by Permanent Secretary, Hussaini Tata.

“The Kebbi State Government under Governor Nasir Idris has approved and released ₦266,964,560 to cover tuition for 100 students studying in India,” said Tunga.

He praised the governor for his commitment to educational development and emphasized that this initiative reflects the administration’s strategic priority to promote academic excellence and moral growth among Kebbi’s youth.
