JAMB Temporarily Shuts 2025 WASSCE Result Upload Portal to Fix Technical Issues

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the temporary closure of its portal for uploading the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

According to the board, the decision is aimed at resolving technical glitches affecting candidates who had earlier uploaded results from the initial WASSCE release.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), JAMB explained:

“Attention, Dear Candidates, Kindly be aware that the temporary closure of the portal for the 2025 WASSCE result upload is to address the issue with those who had previously uploaded the initially-released WASSCE result.”

Assurance to Affected Candidates

JAMB has assured candidates that the issue is being addressed promptly and that they will be contacted once the portal is ready for re-uploads.

The board stated:

“Please be patient while our technical crew works on the portal. You will be contacted shortly to upload your result. Thank you.”

The shutdown impacts candidates seeking admission for the 2024/2025 academic session who must upload their WASSCE results as part of the admission process. The update is intended to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies in the admissions database.

Trend of Portal Downtimes in Exam Bodies

In recent weeks, major Nigerian examination bodies — WAEC, NECO, and now JAMB — have temporarily suspended portal operations, not due to random failures, but as a proactive measure to fix underlying system issues and maintain data integrity.

WAEC halted its result checker portal on August 6 after discovering technical bugs affecting paper serialization in core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Biology, and Economics.
NECO announced a nationwide shutdown of its platforms for maintenance following repeated unplanned downtimes that disrupted result checks, registrations, and verification, delaying some international applications.

2025 UTME Performance Data – Best in a Decade

Despite the temporary portal closure, JAMB revealed that 2025 UTME results are the best since the Computer-Based Test (CBT) system began in 2013.

300+ Scores: 17,025 candidates (0.88%) scored 300 and above, a sharp rise from 8,401 (0.46%) in 2024 and 5,318 (0.35%) in 2023.
250+ Scores: 117,373 candidates (6.08%) achieved this, up from 77,070 (4.18%) in 2024 and 56,736 (3.73%) in 2023.
200+ Scores: 565,988 candidates (29.3%) hit this benchmark, compared to 439,961 (24%) in 2024 and 355,689 (23.36%) in 2023.
