Governor Fintiri Inaugurates PDP Convention Protocol Sub-Committee, Urges Members to Deliver a Successful National Convention
In a significant move towards ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State on Monday inaugurated the Convention Protocol Sub-Committee, charging members to work with dedication and professionalism to guarantee a successful and transparent convention.
Governor Fintiri, who doubles as the Chairman of the National Convention Committee, emphasized the importance of the upcoming event in shaping the party’s unity and strategic direction ahead of future political contests. The convention, scheduled for November 2025, is expected to draw party leaders, delegates, and members from across the country.
Commitment to Excellence and Unity
Speaking during the inauguration, held at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja, Governor Fintiri expressed confidence in the newly inaugurated Protocol Sub-Committee, headed by Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State, describing the team as a blend of experience, integrity, and commitment.
He noted that their role would be critical to the smooth running of the convention, particularly in logistics, security coordination, and the reception of delegates and dignitaries.
“You have been chosen because of your proven competence and loyalty to the ideals of our great party. The success of this national convention rests heavily on your shoulders, and I have no doubt that you will deliver excellently,” Fintiri said.
He urged the committee members to maintain team spirit, transparency, and discipline, assuring them of the full support of the main organizing committee.
Reaffirming Loyalty to the PDP
Governor Fintiri used the occasion to reaffirm his unflinching loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party, describing it as a party built on enduring democratic values and legacies.
According to him, the PDP has continued to demonstrate resilience despite challenges and remains the only political platform capable of restoring good governance, unity, and economic growth in Nigeria.
“The PDP remains a party of structure, discipline, and vision. It has weathered storms and continues to represent the hope of Nigerians who desire credible leadership and national development,” he said.
Fintiri added that the upcoming convention would serve as a renewal of the party’s democratic strength, bringing together diverse voices and perspectives under one umbrella for collective progress.
Protocol Sub-Committee Leadership
The newly inaugurated Protocol Sub-Committee is chaired by Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State, with other members drawn from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Their core mandate includes coordinating logistics, ensuring proper accreditation, managing arrivals and departures of dignitaries, and maintaining decorum throughout the convention.
Governor Fintiri praised the leadership qualities of Governor Muftwang, expressing optimism that his administrative skills and experience would ensure smooth execution of all assigned tasks.
In his remarks, Governor Muftwang pledged that the committee would not disappoint the party.
“We appreciate the confidence reposed in us. We are committed to ensuring that every aspect of the convention — from logistics to security and hospitality — is managed with excellence,” he said.
Preparations Ahead of the Convention
Governor Fintiri also disclosed plans to personally arrive in Ibadan weeks before the convention to monitor and coordinate final arrangements. According to him, this proactive measure will help ensure that all logistics, security, and infrastructure are in place well before delegates begin to arrive.
“We will leave nothing to chance. The PDP must show Nigerians that we are a party of order, discipline, and excellence. Every delegate and visitor to the convention must feel the sense of unity and purpose that defines our party,” he emphasized.
He also noted that the National Convention would be a benchmark for political gatherings in Nigeria, promising that it will reflect the party’s tradition of inclusiveness and internal democracy.
Commitment to a Transparent and Credible Process
Governor Fintiri reassured aspirants and delegates that the convention process would be free, fair, and transparent. He emphasized that the PDP leadership remains committed to maintaining democratic integrity and ensuring that every aspirant is given a level playing field.
“Let me assure all aspirants that this convention will be transparent and credible. Every delegate’s voice will count, and the decisions taken will reflect the will of the people,” he said.
He further urged all party stakeholders to work collectively to ensure unity, stressing that internal cohesion and discipline were vital to the PDP’s resurgence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A Call for Party Unity and Discipline
Governor Fintiri reminded members of the importance of loyalty, emphasizing that internal divisions must give way to unity and shared purpose.
“We must remember that our strength as a party lies in our unity. Let us put aside personal differences and focus on the collective goal of rebuilding the PDP and restoring Nigerians’ confidence in governance,” he urged.
He also highlighted the critical role of communication and coordination between the various sub-committees, saying that effective synergy would determine the overall success of the convention.
Symbol of Democratic Renewal
Political observers note that the inauguration of the Protocol Sub-Committee marks a crucial step in the PDP’s broader preparations for its 2025 National Convention, which is expected to define the party’s leadership direction and political strategy ahead of national elections.
The convention will serve as a symbol of democratic renewal, reaffirming the PDP’s position as Nigeria’s leading opposition party and a key player in the nation’s democratic journey.
Governor Fintiri’s leadership style — marked by strategic planning, inclusiveness, and attention to detail — has been widely praised by party members, many of whom view him as instrumental to the PDP’s renewed sense of purpose.
Looking Ahead
As preparations intensify, Governor Fintiri’s commitment to excellence continues to set the tone for the coming months. With the Protocol Sub-Committee now officially inaugurated, all eyes are on Ibadan — the host city — as it gears up to welcome thousands of party faithful, dignitaries, and political observers from across Nigeria.
The convention promises not only to be a gathering of political minds but also a testament to the PDP’s organizational strength and commitment to Nigeria’s democratic progress.
