Youth and Environment Europe (YEE) is currently accepting applications for the position of Communications Manager, a strategic and creative leadership role designed to strengthen the visibility, coherence, and impact of Europe’s largest independent network of environmental youth organisations. This is a remote, full-time role (40 hours per week) open to candidates based in Europe, with a nine-month contract starting in April 2026 and a gross monthly remuneration of €3,603.19.

Communications Manager Role Overview

The Communications Manager plays a central coordinating role within YEE, ensuring that the organisation’s messaging, digital presence, and storytelling reflect its intersectional, youth-led, and values-driven approach.

The role blends strategic communications planning with hands-on content creation, while acting as a bridge between the Communications Team, the Secretariat, the Executive Board, volunteers, and external partners. The Communications Manager also supports project teams that do not have dedicated communications capacity, ensuring consistency and quality across all outputs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy, Planning, and Reporting

  • Develop and implement communications workplans and internal guidelines

  • Support delivery of YEE’s 2026–2030 strategic priorities

  • Coordinate communications inputs for fundraising and donor reporting

  • Produce quarterly communications reports

  • Provide data, visuals, and narratives for project reports

2. Content Creation and Website Management

  • Create engaging social media content and digital designs for publications

  • Update and manage the YEE website and overall digital presence

  • Produce and edit the bi-monthly public newsletter

  • Administer digital tools including WordPress, Canva, and Mailchimp

3. Internal Coordination

  • Manage weekly tasks and long-term planning within the Communications Department

  • Participate in internal coordination meetings

  • Work closely with the Membership Coordinator and project teams

  • Provide communications support across organisational activities

4. External Relations and Networking

  • Participate in external communications and advocacy networks

  • Represent YEE in meetings with partners and potential collaborators

  • Support relationship-building with allied organisations and initiatives

Candidate Profile

YEE is seeking candidates who are aligned with its mission and values, and who bring both strategic thinking and creative execution to communications work. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a small, collaborative, international team and is proactive in proposing innovative communication approaches.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Residency in Europe (EU work permit preferred)

  • Under 35 years old by the end of the contract period

  • At least two years of professional experience in a communications-related role

  • Strong understanding of environmental issues and EU policy contexts

  • Experience managing websites and digital communication tools

Contract Details and Remuneration

  • Contract type: Service contract (local employment contract possible in the Czech Republic)

  • Working time: Full-time (40 hours per week)

  • Duration: 9 months, starting April 2026

  • Monthly remuneration: €3,603.19 gross

  • Probation period: Two months

  • Renewal: Possible, subject to funding availability
