GOV FINTIRI'S EX-CoS DENIES ROLE IN EMPLOYMENT RACKETEERING

 

Ex-Chief of Staff to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Professor Maxwell Gidado has denied any involvement in employment racketeering involving some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) while in office.

Professor Maxwell (SAN), served as Chief of Staff during the first tenure of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri from 2015 to 2019 but was replaced shortly after his principal secured his second term.

An online media report recently accused him of defrauding 14 unemployed Internally Displaced Persons to the tune of #1.5 million with the promise to secure jobs for them in the State Civil service.

But reacting in a statement made available to Journalists in Yola, Prof. Maxwell dismissed the publication, describing the allegations as "defamatory, fallacious, equivocal and vague". 

 He said the publication was the handwork of his political opponents who are out to tarnish his hard-earned reputation which should be disregarded, adding that given his pedigree as a man who is highly respected both at home and on the national level, he will never "stoop so low as to accept bribe for securing jobs for Internally Displaced Persons". 

He said some powerful individuals and opposition who did not want him to excel in his political career, fought against his return as Chief of Staff to the Governor, and now seek to further disgrace him by perpetrating false allegations against him.

According to him, "As a leader with many aides, it is possible that one of them may have used my name while bargaining for employment opportunities for the said IDPs". 

For the records according to the statement, Prof Gidado has assisted many people without asking for any compensation, this accusation against him is baseless.

"The general public should disregard this defamation campaign aimed at discrediting such an esteemed individual within the society." 

"It is important to note that false accusations can have a detrimental effect on an individual's reputation and career." 

"The media should be more responsible in their reporting and fact-check their stories before publishing such allegations." 

"It is also crucial for the public to be discerning and not easily be swayed by sensationalized news."

"In addition, it is disheartening to see how politics can be used as a tool for personal gain and vendettas, instead of focusing on serving the people and creating positive change, some individuals resort to dirty tactics to further their agendas."
