Copperbelt Rapper Y Celeb Apologizes After Arrest at Nkana vs. Power Dynamos Match
Zambian rapper Y Celeb, one of the most prominent artists from the Copperbelt, has issued a public apology following an incident that led to his arrest on Saturday after attending the Nkana vs. Power Dynamos football match.
Taking to his social media platforms, Y Celeb described the situation as a “misunderstanding”, clarifying that it was never his intention to gather or influence the large crowd that followed him after the game.
“I’m humbled by the love and support I’ve received, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to clear my name,” the rapper stated.
In his statement, Y Celeb also extended an apology to the Zambia Police for any inconvenience caused during the commotion, expressing respect for their role in maintaining peace and order.
“To the police, I apologize for any inconvenience caused, and I appreciate your efforts to maintain law and order. I understand that you were doing your job, and I respect that,” he added.
Amateur footage shared online captured chaotic scenes as Y Celeb was escorted into a police vehicle while fans ran along the street. Another viral clip showed him earlier at the stadium, enthusiastically cheering for his team, reflecting his passion for local football culture.
The Team Yo Maps frontman, known for his energetic personality and street credibility, also used the opportunity to apologize to his fans and promised to be more mindful of his surroundings moving forward.
He emphasized his commitment to using his platform positively by promoting unity, peace, and love among the youth.
