University of Trento (UniTrento) Reception and Training Project 2025–2026

For International Students from Conflict Zones

In the 2025/2026 academic year, the University of Trento (UniTrento) in Italy has launched a new Reception and Training Project designed to help international students from conflict-affected areas continue their education in a safe and supportive environment. The initiative reflects UniTrento’s commitment to inclusion, peacebuilding, and equal access to higher education for all.

About the Program

The project offers a lifeline for students whose education has been disrupted by war, political instability, or unsafe conditions. It is open to young people currently living outside Italy who are unable to start or continue university studies in their home countries due to conflict.

A maximum of ten students will be selected to participate in a one-year Foundation Year at the University of Trento. This preparatory program serves as a bridge to full university studies, equipping students with the academic and language skills required to succeed at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

During the Foundation Year, participants will:

  • Enroll in individual university courses and preparatory classes.

  • Attend Italian and English language courses through the University’s Language Centre.

  • Receive training in computer literacy, study techniques, and academic competencies.

Upon successful completion of the Foundation Year, students will be eligible to apply for Bachelor’s or Master’s programs at UniTrento for the 2026/27 academic year, provided they meet the program-specific admission requirements.

Scholarship and Financial Support

Each selected student will receive a comprehensive scholarship package that covers all essential academic and living expenses. The benefits include:

  • Scholarship: €7,200 (paid in two installments)

  • Full tuition waiver for all Foundation Year courses

  • Free accommodation in shared student housing (provided by Opera Universitaria di Trento)

  • Two free meals per day at university cafeterias

  • Free annual transportation pass for local and regional travel in Trento

  • Coverage of travel costs from the student’s home country to Trento

  • Health insurance or registration with the Italian National Health Service

  • Tutoring, psychological, and legal support services

  • Access to cultural, sports, and integration activities organized by the university and local community associations

This support ensures that students can fully focus on their academic and personal development while adapting to life in Italy.
