Eligible Research Fields

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality & Location

• Must be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country, including South Africa
• Must conduct research at a recognized institution within Sub-Saharan Africa

For Doctoral Candidates

• Enrolled in a PhD program and at least in the second year
• First-year students are not eligible

For Post-Doctoral Researchers

• Must have begun postdoctoral research
• PhD defended after February 2021
• Eligibility extended by one year per child for maternity considerations

General Conditions

• Previous recipients of L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science awards are not eligible
